MANİFESTO
FEST-i KULT 2 - Ankara AFSGD Intercultural Amateur Film Festival
ALTERNATIVE ART EVENT BY THE PEOPLE OF CULTURE
This is a manifesto,
Nobody would ever name whoever is close to their lifestyle as “right” or “good” and the ones who are minorities to them as “wrong” or “bad” if only different cultural back grounded people knew and understood each other. They would only see that there are no such words as right or wrong but there is only different. We believe that; trying to understand the differences and volunteer for doing something about it is the key to resolve the problems we face everyday. AFS Volunteer Organization which is a nongovernmental organization is aimed to maintain the ones listed above.
AFS Volunteer Organization (AFSGD) Ankara tries to show cultural interactions by combining their volunteer work with art. Because, for us art is the most important component of relationships and interactions between people and societies.
AFSGD Ankara Intercultural Amateur Film Festival is a festival formed under the aims of AFSGD Ankara Volunteers and this is our festivals second year. Our festival aims to have a unique place by using willingness and being an amateur as our basis.
Either on organization level or choosing which movie to present our first criteria is being an amateur. What we understand from the word amateur is not the common word used as amateur. We searched the origin of the word amateur and we came up with this:
The article which has not published yet ‘Amatörlük Üzerine’ by Naci ARSLAN[1] helped us find what really being amateur is. His article helped us to understand the word amateur really means that “loves from the bottom of his heart”, “the one who loves very much”, “loves like a mother”...
We have adopted this idea throughout our preparations of the festival, still using it and will be using how long this festival lives. Our aim is to collect movies both from local and foreign directors who put great effort and gave a lot from themselves.
The festival will be presented between November the 24th to 27th in Ankara and it doesn’t consist of any theme whatsoever. Our theme will be set by your suggestions and requests for the upcoming festivals.
We believe that, our festival will help Ankara’s cultural atmosphere and being amateur in the way people believe in…
Enjoy…
